How a lesson works

Look, try, do it in the app, check

Figures to play withMove a slider and see what a filter, the number of trials or a baseline does to the signal.
In the appDo each step in the real window of the toolbox, on demo data whose right answers are known.
Check yourselfShort questions with an explanation for every answer, right or wrong.
Your numbers checkedType the numbers you got; they are compared with a careful analysis of the same data.

Short captions, figures first, details only when you want them. Your progress stays in your browser.

Laser Doppler flowmetry · about 60 min · 7 parts

The blood-flow response to whisker stimulation

What the signal measures and why only relative changes count · recording well · reading raw data and its faults · cropping, downsampling, filtering, cutting trials and averaging, step by step · the numbers and what n is · reporting · an exercise with your own numbers checked.

EEG · about 60 min · 7 parts

ERPs and a P300 measure from cleaned EEG

Where the EEG comes from and how averaging reveals an ERP · recording well · looking at the data first · filtering, cutting trials, baseline and averaging, step by step · mean amplitude, latency and what n is · reporting · an exercise with your own numbers checked.

How access works

  1. Requests open soon. You will ask for access with a short form, and the author answers each request himself.
  2. Sign in with your email. Once your request is approved, you receive a one-time code by email to open the lessons. No password.
  3. Before you start: install the toolbox (free for noncommercial use) and make its demo files in the app (? Help → Generate all demo files…).

Until then, the guide walks through every window and the demo data page lists what each window should show.
